Three cheers for three years!

Yesterday, Jeff and I celebrated our three year anniversary! It has been quite the three years, but they have been oh so good to us!  Our first year we adopted a stray cat my friend Kristy found in Richmond.  Maverick is quite the character!  Yes, Maverick is named after Jeff's favorite movie, Top Gun.  We have greatly enjoyed this mischievous little guy!

Our second year of marriage we bought a house in Smithfield.  We love this little town where there is lots of history and the people are so friendly.  Walking down Main Street with all of its little shops makes life slow down.

Our third year of marriage was defined by pregnancy and finally the birth of our son.  We learned so much about each other during this year.  For labor we planned on using the Bradley Method, which uses the husband as the birthing coach.  Labor is definitely not a 50/50 effort, but I know that I couldn't have done it without Jeff's amazing coaching and encouragement.  I feel like this experience really showed how incredible the last three years have been.  We have learned how to work so well together, which was definitely essential during the hurricane birth.  The Lord has been so good to us and provided in ways we couldn't have even imagined.  We have loved these last three years going through life together.  We just hope next year doesn't have any big additions!
He loves his dad, and he loves sleeping with his hands behind his head!

Hurricane Irene blew in Baby Carson!

Baby Carson Michael is finally here!  Of course he had to arrive just in time for the hurricane!  At 3am on Saturday, August 27th, we headed for the hospital just as the rain and wind started.  We were concerned that they would close the bridge before we crossed it to get to the hospital but that didn't happen until a few hours later- just made it! Only 24 hours after real contractions started in a hospital on back-up power, he was born at 10:52pm.  What a big boy too! Carson was 9lbs 4oz and 22in long.  Who knew such a big boy was in me!  We are loving our little family so much!  He is so precious and makes the greatest faces! Here are a few pictures of his first week!
Proud parents on Sunday morning
We had lots of visitors on Sunday to welcome Carson into the world!

Going home!
